The judges at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia scored the 115-pound contest 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47 in favor of the Los Angeles-based fighter. Dern dominated the grappling exchanges in the co-main event, securing 4-of-6 takedown attempts and accumulating more than 10 minutes of control time against the Canadian challenger.

The champion nearly ended the fight in the opening frame after taking Robertson’s back and spending the final 30 seconds attempting a rear-naked choke. The submission threat was so significant that Robertson had to provide a "thumbs up" signal to referee Keith Peterson to prove she was conscious as the clock expired. Despite Robertson holding the record for the most submission wins by a female in UFC history, she surrendered her guard repeatedly throughout the first four rounds of the championship matchup.

Robertson entered the bout as an underdog despite having 20 fights of UFC experience. This victory marks Dern's fourth consecutive win, a streak that includes her title-winning performance against Virna Jandiroba. Her last professional defeat occurred in February 2024 at UFC 298, where she lost a Fight of the Night encounter against Amanda Lemos.

The result sets the stage for a potential showdown with former champion Zhang Weili. Zhang vacated the 115-pound title in 2025 to pursue a second belt in the flyweight division but fell short in a 125-pound title bid against Valentina Shevchenko in November. Zhang has not yet announced her next move following her loss at flyweight, but Dern remains focused on the former titleholder to leave no doubt regarding the hierarchy of the division.
