The 23-year-old England midfielder has prioritized providing service to Erling Haaland, who enters Sunday's derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford having scored five goals in his last three appearances.

Manchester City's summer recruitment included several high-value signings alongside Anderson. The club acquired Enzo Fernández for £125 million, Ayyoub Bouaddi for £86 million, Iliman Ndiaye for £65 million, and Allan Elias for £34 million. This spending total significantly exceeded the £163 million spent by Manchester United during the same period.

Anderson, a lifelong City supporter who received his first club shirt at age seven, described his new team as the "kings of Manchester" upon his arrival. While Maresca defended the midfielder's comments, the manager noted that the high transfer fees are a reflection of a "crazy" market and that he evaluates players based on quality rather than cost.
