Defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. signed a four-year extension with the Falcons featuring $46.5 million in guaranteed money.

The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. to a four-year, $78 million contract extension on Wednesday, according to agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus. The deal includes $46.5 million in guaranteed money for the 24-year-old interior lineman, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Atlanta acquired Dexter from the Chicago Bears on Aug. 30 in exchange for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.

Dexter currently ranks eighth in the NFL with a 20.5% quarterback pressure rate among defenders with at least 50 pass-rush snaps. While he has recorded a half sack this season, his presence has helped the Falcons reach a 41.6% team pressure rate, the third-highest mark in the league. This defensive production comes despite Atlanta blitzing on only 19% of plays, which represents the second-lowest rate in the NFL.

Prior to joining Atlanta, Dexter was a 2023 second-round selection by the Bears and recorded 11 combined sacks during the previous two seasons. The Falcons moved to secure the tackle following the loss of edge rushers Jalon Walker to an ACL injury and James Pearce Jr. to a suspension. Defensive line coach Nate Ollie noted that Dexter has successfully integrated into the team's attacking front mindset during the early stages of the season.
