Adetomiwa Adebawore signed a two-year, $35 million extension with the Indianapolis Colts, featuring a $13 million signing bonus.

The Indianapolis Colts and defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension on Tuesday. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the deal keeps the 25-year-old in Indianapolis through the 2028 season and includes $22.5 million in new money through 2027. Negotiated by agent Kenny Zuckerman, the agreement provides the 2023 fourth-round pick with a $13 million signing bonus.

Adebawore has recorded a team-high four sacks this season and leads Indianapolis defensive linemen with a 23.3% pass rush win rate. These statistics come despite the defender facing double-teams on 78.8% of his pass-rush snaps. While the club received trade inquiries from other teams regarding the impending free agent, the organization opted to retain him as a cornerstone for their roster retooling.

This signing follows a period of significant turnover for the franchise, including the firing of general manager Chris Ballard last month. The team recently traded guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. While coach Shane Steichen confirmed receiver Josh Downs has requested a trade, the Colts prioritized keeping Adebawore amid ongoing speculation regarding the future of running back Jonathan Taylor.
