General manager Daniel Briere announced Tuesday that the Philadelphia Flyers signed veteran winger Michael Bunting to a prorated $1.2 million contract. The move follows a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night, leaving the Flyers winless through their first four contests of the season. Philadelphia has been outscored 17-5 during this stretch and currently holds a league-worst shot margin of minus-124, having allowed 246 shots while attempting only 122.
Bunting, 30, joins the organization as an unrestricted free agent after spliting last season between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars. The 432-game veteran has previously played for Arizona, Toronto, Carolina, and Pittsburgh. According to the Associated Press, it is not yet confirmed if Bunting will be available for the team's next game against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.
