Gio Reyna scored in the 67th minute for Strasbourg but signaled for a substitution just three minutes later due to left thigh discomfort.
Strasbourg fell 3-1 to Toulouse in Ligue 1 action on Friday, a match that saw American midfielder Gio Reyna score in the 67th minute before exiting with an apparent left thigh injury at the 70-minute mark. Reyna signaled to the sideline for a substitution and went directly down the tunnel after feeling discomfort. USMNT defender Mark McKenzie also scored in the contest, netting the second goal for 10th-place Toulouse.
Reyna’s availability for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals is now in question. The 23-year-old was recently named to Mauricio Pochettino’s roster for the two-legged series against 84th-ranked Haiti. The United States is scheduled to play the opening leg in Miami on Nov. 14, followed by a second match in Cincinnati on Nov. 17. Winners of the series earn a berth in the semifinals held at SoFi Stadium in March.
This injury follows a period of strong form for Reyna, who started and won all four matches during the September-October international window while recording two assists. Conversely, Strasbourg’s team form has struggled, with the club losing five of its last six matches to sit 13th in the 18-team French top-tier table. McKenzie, who scored for the opposition on Friday, had been added to the U.S. roster earlier that day as an injury replacement for George Campbell.
