Harry Kane secured the 2026 Ballon d'Or in London after scoring 73 goals in 65 matches and winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and German Supercup.
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane was named the 2026 Ballon d'Or winner on Monday at the London Palladium. During the voting period, which spanned from August 2025 through the July World Cup, Kane scored 73 goals in 65 matches. He secured three trophies with Bayern Munich—the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the German Supercup—and led England to a third-place finish at the FIFA World Cup with six goals in the tournament.
Kane also received the Gerd Müller Men's Award for Striker of the Year during the ceremony, which was delayed by 45 minutes. Since his €120 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, the forward has recorded 158 goals in 156 appearances for the German club. He is the first English player to win the Ballon d'Or since Michael Owen in 2001, joining a list of previous English winners that includes Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, and Kevin Keegan.
Lamine Yamal was named Young Talent of the Year for the third consecutive time, while Rodri, the 2025 winner, was also in attendance. Kane currently holds 280 goals in 435 appearances for Tottenham and is expected to surpass Peter Shilton’s record of 125 England caps next month. The Ballon d'Or result is determined by one journalist from each of FIFA's top 100 ranked nations based on individual performance, collective titles, and class.
