Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant sustained a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during Thursday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies and will be sidelined for at least four weeks. The 27-year-old exited the contest in the fourth quarter after feeling a twinge in his leg and did not return. According to the team's Friday announcement, Morant will miss a minimum of 15 games before being reevaluated.
Prior to the injury, Morant averaged 15.8 points and 5.5 assists through four games, helping Portland to a 3-1 start. He recorded a season-high 23 points on Tuesday in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The two-time All-Star, who joined Portland via an offseason trade, had anchored the NBA's No. 3 ranked offense alongside Damian Lillard.
Coach Micah Nori will likely increase the workload for backup guards Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson during Morant's absence. This setback follows a 2025-26 season where Morant was limited to 20 games due to an elbow sprain. The Trail Blazers are scheduled to begin a four-game road trip against the Utah Jazz this Saturday.
