Chet Holmgren will miss eight to 10 weeks due to a patellar tendon tear in his right knee, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced Friday.
Oklahoma City Thunder power forward/center Chet Holmgren will miss eight to 10 weeks following a biological treatment performed Friday to address a small patellar tendon tear in his right knee. The 7-footer, who was the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft, reported mild discomfort on Sunday, the same day teammates Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace sustained injuries during a game against the Clippers.
Holmgren is the third Thunder starter ruled out for an extended period this week. Jalen Williams underwent surgery Wednesday for a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle, while guard Cason Wallace had surgery Friday for a torn labrum. Both Williams and Wallace are scheduled for reevaluation before the end of the regular season, according to team releases.
This marks the third major injury for Holmgren, who previously missed the entire 2022-23 season with a broken foot and several months of the 2024-25 season due to a fractured pelvis. During the previous season, Holmgren earned first-team All-Defensive and third-team All-NBA honors while averaging 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
