Jack Grealish was left out of Everton's squad for Monday's Premier League match at Newcastle United because he is not match fit.
Everton midfielder Jack Grealish will miss Monday's Premier League match at Newcastle United after being omitted from the squad due to a fitness issue. The club's official website confirmed the 31-year-old is "not match fit" for the fixture at St James' Park. This absence follows a disciplinary matter that saw Grealish excluded from Thursday's 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over the same opponent, a move manager David Moyes described as a "club decision."
Grealish, currently in his second season-long loan from Manchester City, has recorded six appearances for the Toffees this term. His recent availability has been inconsistent, as he also missed a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Oct. 24 due to illness. During the previous campaign, the midfielder contributed two goals and six assists in 20 games before a foot injury ended his season in January.
International competition also saw Grealish sidelined recently, as he was not included in the England squad that reached the World Cup semifinals. The Press Association reported that Moyes declined to provide further specifics regarding the player's recent disciplinary absence following last week's cup win.
