Jauan Jennings communicated his belief in the Minnesota Vikings' direction after the San Francisco 49ers attempted to reacquire the wide receiver.
Wide receiver Jauan Jennings expressed his desire to remain with the Minnesota Vikings after the San Francisco 49ers attempted to reacquire him in trade discussions, a source confirmed to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Vikings allowed Jennings to provide input during the process, during which he stated his belief in the team's current trajectory. Minnesota officials view the 29-year-old as a primary component of their offensive scheme moving forward.
Jennings joined the Vikings this past offseason on a one-year contract valued at up to $13 million. Through the first portion of the 2026 season, he has recorded four receptions for 43 yards on eight total targets. This follows a 2025 campaign with San Francisco where he led the team with nine receiving touchdowns and 643 yards despite playing through rib, ankle, and shoulder injuries. In 2024, Jennings posted career-high figures of 77 catches and 975 yards.
The 49ers, who originally drafted Jennings in the seventh round in 2020, sought receiving depth due to significant roster attrition. Ricky Pearsall is currently on season-ending injured reserve, while De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson are also sidelined on injured reserve. Additionally, starters Deebo Samuel Sr. and Mike Evans have missed time during the current season due to various injuries.
