Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 150 receiving yards as Seattle held Kenneth Walker III to 36 yards in a 20-3 victory over Kansas City.
The Seattle Seahawks (4-3) defeated the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) 20-3 on Sunday night at Lumen Field. Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the offense with 150 receiving yards, including 129 in the first half, which is the most by a Seahawk in a single half since 2020. Seattle’s defense limited former Seahawk and current Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III to 36 yards on 14 carries, extending a streak of 36 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard rusher.
Sam Darnold completed 20-of-28 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown for Seattle. Despite throwing his eighth interception in five games—a leaping pick by Nohl Williams in the end zone that was returned 65 yards—Darnold helped the offense total 410 yards and convert 11-of-16 third downs. The Seahawks did not allow a sack during the contest after giving up five in each of their previous two games.
Kansas City’s offense struggled without injured tackles Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore, as well as wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. Patrick Mahomes was pressured on 53% of his first-half dropbacks, resulting in just 37 passing yards before halftime and one interception. The Chiefs never reached the red zone, getting no closer than the Seattle 27-yard line, where Harrison Butker missed a field goal. Kansas City’s active wide receivers combined for only six receptions and 39 yards in the loss.
