Quarterback Jayden Daniels returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity following a dislocated left elbow suffered in a Week 2 loss.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels participated in a 60-minute limited practice session on Wednesday in Hertfordshire, England. According to ESPN’s John Keim, the rookie quarterback wore a black brace on his left elbow that left his arm slightly bent while performing footwork drills and taking snaps from center. Coach Dan Quinn stated that Daniels' availability for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts depends on his strength, functionality, and pain tolerance.
Daniels suffered the dislocated elbow during a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. This marks the second time he has dealt with this specific injury, having missed the final four games of the 2025 season after aggravating a similar dislocation. Specialists in New York and Los Angeles have advised that he can return without immediate surgery, though the procedure remains a future possibility. If Daniels cannot play Sunday, Marcus Mariota is expected to start for the 1-2 Commanders.
Washington has already ruled out safety Nick Cross due to an internal injury and guard Sam Cosmi with a concussion; neither player traveled to England. Linebacker Frankie Luvu and tight end Chig Okonkwo are expected to practice this week despite groin and hamstring injuries, respectively. Running back Rachaad White missed Wednesday's workout with a shoulder injury, prompting the team to sign veteran Austin Ekeler earlier in the week.
