Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss a second straight game with a dislocated left elbow as Marcus Mariota earns another start.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts in Hertfordshire, England. This marks the second consecutive game Daniels will miss after sustaining a dislocated left elbow during the final play of the first half in a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Marcus Mariota will start in his place, coming off a Week 3 performance where he completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns in a 33-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Daniels participated in practice this week as a limited participant while wearing a brace on his non-throwing arm. Coach Dan Quinn indicated the team remains optimistic about a potential return for a Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants, pending a full practice next week. The injury occurred when Daniels' left foot was stepped on while backing away from center, causing him to fall on his arm. This is his second dislocation of that elbow in a year, following a Week 9 injury last season that resulted in a four-game absence.

Washington will also be without guard Sam Cosmi, who is sidelined with a concussion, and safety Nick Cross, who remains out with an internal injury. However, the team will see the return of linebacker Frankie Luvu and tight end Chig Okonkwo after both missed two games with groin and hamstring injuries, respectively. Luvu’s return follows the season-ending neck fracture suffered by backup linebacker Leo Chenal last week. Running back Rachaad White is currently questionable with a shoulder injury, while newly signed Austin Ekeler may see his first action since recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
