Quarterback Sam Darnold will miss the Seattle Seahawks' upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a quad injury sustained against Chicago.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald announced Wednesday that quarterback Sam Darnold will miss Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a quad injury. Darnold sustained the ailment during the final moments of Monday night's loss to the Chicago Bears, which dropped the defending Super Bowl champions to a 4-4 record. Macdonald classified the quarterback as week-to-week but noted the team will not place him on injured reserve.
Drew Lock is scheduled to start Sunday with Jalen Milroe serving as the backup. Lock returns to the lineup after missing the previous two games with an elbow injury. During Darnold's earlier absence this season—caused by a glute injury suffered in the season opener against New England—Lock recorded four touchdown passes, zero interceptions, and an 82.5 Total QBR.
In a Week 2 victory over Arizona, Lock completed 19 of 26 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Macdonald stated the Seahawks would prepare both available quarterbacks for the upcoming matchup, expressing confidence in the depth chart despite Darnold's second injury-related absence of the year.
