Jayden Reed and Zach Bako-Bewele Carted Off Field on Back-to-Back Plays

Wide receiver Jayden Reed and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele were ruled out after sustaining injuries on consecutive plays during the Packers' 20-17 win.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the New York Jets 20-17 in overtime at MetLife Stadium despite losing two starters to significant injuries on consecutive plays. Wide receiver Jayden Reed was carted off the field after the second play from scrimmage following a 4-yard gain on a swing pass. On the very next snap, right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele sustained a right knee injury and was also removed via cart. Both players were immediately ruled out for the remainder of the contest, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Medical staff from both organizations attended to Reed for several minutes after he took a hit to the head and neck area. Jets linebacker Demario Davis was the initial defender to strike Reed, with Kingsley Enagbare potentially making secondary contact. Reed was placed on a stabilizing backboard with his helmet strapped down before leaving the field.

Bako-Bewele’s leg was placed in a cast before he was transported from the sidelines. The injuries occurred during the opening drive of the Sunday matchup in East Rutherford, N.J., prompting players from both teams to take a knee while medical personnel worked on the field.
