Carolina Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton left Sunday's game against the Buccaneers on a cart following a third-quarter leg injury.
Carolina Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton suffered a left ankle and fibula injury with 14:13 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 32-year-old lineman was injured during a Yaya Diaby sack of quarterback Bryce Young, prompting trainers to transport him to the locker room via cart. While initially listed as questionable, the team downgraded Moton to out before the conclusion of the third period.
First-round pick Monroe Freeling entered the game at right tackle to replace the veteran starter. On the play immediately following Moton's departure, Diaby recorded another sack against left tackle Rasheed Walker. Freeling previously started the first four games of the season while Moton was sidelined for offseason blood clot treatment.
According to ESPN, Moton has appeared in only seven quarters of play this season. As the longest-tenured non-specialist on the roster, the 2017 second-round pick has served as the starting right tackle for nine seasons. Moton remains under contract through 2028, though his guaranteed money concludes after the 2027 season.
