A representative for Jaylen Brown called reports that the forward demanded a trade from the Boston Celtics or provided a list of demands '10000% a lie.'

A representative for Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown told ESPN that reports of the player demanding a trade from the Boston Celtics are "10000% a lie." The denial follows claims made by NBC Sports Boston analyst Brian Scalabrine, who stated Brown requested a move and was "rooting to be traded to Milwaukee." Brown's camp clarified that the forward never requested a trade to the Bucks.

The Celtics traded Brown, the 2016 No. 3 overall pick, to Philadelphia this past offseason in exchange for Paul George, first-round picks in 2028 and 2031, and second-round selections in 2028 and 2030. According to Brown's representative, the player's only request regarding the transaction was to have input on his destination after a separate deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo fell through and Boston officials informed Brown he would be moved regardless.

Scalabrine later walked back his comments, stating Brown did not "technically" demand a trade but maintained the player presented an ultimatum or a list of demands, potentially involving a $140 million extension. Brown's team asserts the only other request made during his tenure in Boston was that he and Jayson Tatum be treated equally.

Brown and Tatum played nine seasons together, reaching five Eastern Conference finals and winning the 2024 NBA championship. Tensions surfaced recently when Brown replied with a "cap" emoji to a YouTube video where Tatum claimed to be caught off guard by the trade. During a preseason matchup two weeks ago, the former teammates worked out on opposite sides of the court without acknowledging one another.
