Jena Bishop (12-3) secured the vacant PFL women's flyweight title at Wintrust Arena after all three judges scored the bout 48-47 in her favor.
Jena Bishop became the inaugural PFL women's flyweight champion Friday night at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, defeating Liz Carmouche via unanimous decision. All three judges scored the five-round contest 48-47 for Bishop (12-3), who overcame a difficult opening frame where Carmouche dropped her twice. The victory marks a successful redemption for Bishop, who lost to Carmouche via third-round TKO during the 2025 tournament final.
After surviving the early onslaught, Bishop utilized her grappling background as a multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion to control the second and third rounds on the canvas. Carmouche (26-9) regained momentum in the fourth round by landing heavy punches, but Bishop secured the win by controlling the final four minutes of the fifth round. During that closing period, Bishop remained on the ground in a dominant position while threatening a rear-naked choke.
Carmouche, a 42-year-old former Bellator champion, entered the bout having won 13 of her previous 14 fights. She was forced to shave her head during Thursday's weigh-ins to meet the 125-pound limit. Following the result, undefeated flyweight Dakota Ditcheva entered the cage for a face-off with Bishop. Ditcheva, who is currently recovering from an injury, previously defeated Bishop via first-round TKO in a 2024 tournament semifinal.
