Jess Fishlock Sets Seattle Reign Scoring Record with Brace Against Boston

Jess Fishlock netted two long-range goals to reach 52 career tallies, leading Seattle Reign to a 2-0 win over the Boston Legacy.

Jess Fishlock scored in the 23rd and 64th minutes on Friday night to lead the Seattle Reign to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Legacy. The brace allowed Fishlock to surpass Megan Rapinoe's career mark of 51 goals, setting a new franchise record with 52 total strikes. Both goals were scored from outside the penalty box, with the first coming after Fishlock won the ball high up the field.

Seattle goalkeeper Claudia Dickey recorded seven saves to secure her seventh clean sheet of the season. The result moved the Reign (12-10-4) into sixth place in the NWSL standings with four matches remaining. Conversely, the loss eliminated the Boston Legacy (7-14-5) from playoff contention and marked the first time the team failed to score in 13 games.

In other Friday NWSL action, Gotham FC defeated the Chicago Stars 3-1 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Jaedyn Shaw scored twice, netting in the 9th minute off a Sam Kerr assist and again in the 65th minute following a pass from Rose Lavelle. Kerr added a header in the 50th minute, while Tessa Dellarose scored Chicago's lone goal in the 87th minute. The Stars (5-19-2) have now lost five consecutive matches.

San Diego Wave also earned a 2-0 road win against Racing Louisville. Gia Corley opened the scoring in the 27th minute via a Lia Godfrey assist, and Ludmila doubled the lead in the 49th minute by converting a rebound. Sandra Paños made one save for the shutout. The defeat eliminated Racing Louisville (7-17-2) from the postseason following six straight losses, leaving the Wave in second place behind Gotham.
