Jessica Pegula Outlasts Emma Navarro in Three Sets to Reach US Open Semifinals

Jessica Pegula overcame a one-set deficit to defeat Emma Navarro 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Tuesday night.

No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula defeated No. 26 seed Emma Navarro 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in an all-American quarterfinal Tuesday night at the US Open. After Navarro broke Pegula's serve twice to claim the opening set, Pegula responded by winning four consecutive games in the third set to recover from a 2-1 deficit. The match began nearly 90 minutes after the scheduled 7 p.m. ET start time due to a lengthy day session.

ESPN reports that Pegula has now won 19 three-set matches this season, the highest total on the women's tour. At 32 years old, she became the oldest woman in the Open era to reach multiple major semifinals in a single year for the first time, following her appearance in the Australian Open semifinals in January.

Pegula advances to face world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday. This matchup marks the third consecutive year the pair has met in the US Open semifinals or later, a feat achieved by only three other pairs of women in the Open era. Sabalenka previously defeated Pegula in the 2024 final and the 2025 semifinals.
