Jon Rahm stated he would accept the same penalties Brooks Koepka received to rejoin the PGA Tour after reaching a separation agreement with LIV Golf on Oct. 15.
Two-time major champion Jon Rahm announced Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship that he is willing to accept the same penalties Brooks Koepka faced to return to the PGA Tour. Rahm reached a separation agreement with LIV Golf on Oct. 15, reportedly walking away from over $100 million in remaining contract value. The Spaniard cited dissatisfaction with the league's transition to "LIV 2.0" as the reason for his departure.
Under the PGA Tour's Returning Member Program established in January, Koepka returned by agreeing to forfeit all player equity shares for five years and disqualifying himself from the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus program in 2026. Koepka also made a $5 million charitable donation at the Tour's request. Rahm noted that while he is open to these terms, PGA Tour commissioner Brian Rolapp previously described the program as a one-time window rather than a precedent for future returns.
Rahm has not yet held formal discussions with the PGA Tour following the recent birth of his fourth child. If a return is not immediately granted, Rahm stated he is prepared to compete on the DP World Tour for the full 2027 season. This potential move follows the financial instability of LIV Golf, which filed for Chapter 11 protection on Sept. 8 after the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund ceased funding in April. Other eligible golfers who declined the initial return window include Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith.
