Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor confirmed he has not asked for a trade despite the team's 2-5 start and the recent departures of two franchise cornerstones.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor confirmed he has not requested a trade following the team's 2-5 start to the season. The announcement comes as Indianapolis initiated a roster overhaul on Tuesday, trading guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. While Taylor stated he is "proud to wear the horseshoe," he acknowledged that the business side of the NFL makes any future changes possible.
Taylor is currently under a contract extension signed in August that runs through the 2028 season. Despite this, several teams have made overtures to the Colts regarding the running back's availability. Taylor noted he held a conversation this week with principal owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon but did not disclose the specific details of their discussion.
The Colts enter this Sunday's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars having faded down the stretch last year. Although Taylor questioned the idea of a team rebuild, the organization has already moved two of its primary assets. Taylor previously requested a trade during a 2023 contract standoff and remains the most significant trade asset on the current Indianapolis roster.
