Nikita Kucherov recorded two assists during Tampa Bay's 4-2 victory over Detroit, his first home appearance since asking the Lightning for a trade.

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 on Tuesday night, securing their seventh consecutive home victory. Brayden Point scored twice in the first period, including a power-play goal off a centering pass from Nikita Kucherov. Point's second goal came 5:07 later following another assist from Kucherov, who now has five assists in two games since his trade request became public. Anthony Cirelli extended the lead to 3-0 in the second period with his fifth goal of the season, beating relief goaltender Daniil Tarasov.

Detroit goaltender John Gibson was pulled after the first period, having stopped 11 of 13 shots. The Red Wings attempted a comeback with a second-period goal from Lucas Raymond and a third-period power-play goal by J.T. Compher, which brought the score to 3-2. Andrei Vasilevskiy defended the lead against a late extra-attacker pressure before Ryan McDonagh scored an empty-net goal with one second remaining in regulation.

During pregame warmups, fans at Amalie Arena displayed signs reading "We Stand with Kuch 86" and "Pay Stay Kuch" to support the reigning NHL MVP. Kucherov, who is in the final year of an eight-year, $76 million contract, stated on Monday that his trade request stems from a lack of communication with general manager Julien BriseBois. The winger claimed he has only had two conversations with management in four months and was informed he is free to leave as a free agent on July 1.
