LeBron James shot 3-for-12 and recorded seven turnovers as the Philadelphia 76ers fell 119-96 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 119-96 in an NBA Cup game on Friday night. LeBron James finished with eight points on 3-for-12 shooting and committed seven turnovers in his first return to Cleveland since joining Philadelphia in free agency. This performance ended a 22-year streak of scoring at least 10 points in games played in Cleveland, a run dating back to December 29, 2004.
Philadelphia struggled offensively as Joel Embiid finished with six points on 0-for-9 shooting. According to ESPN, James and Embiid became the third pair of former MVP teammates in NBA history to shoot 25% or worse while scoring in single digits during the same game. Embiid’s 0-for-9 night was his second-worst career shooting performance, trailing only an 0-for-11 game against the Raptors six years ago.
James, now 41 years old, returned to Rocket Arena as a member of his third opposing team following previous stints with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the loss, the 76ers moved to an 8-2 record for the season. Philadelphia is scheduled to face the Bulls in Chicago on Sunday.
