Luana Santos utilized five takedowns and 7.5 minutes of control time to defeat Yana Santos via unanimous decision on Saturday.
Luana Santos (12-2) secured a unanimous decision victory over fifth-ranked Yana Santos (17-9, 1 NC) on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. All three judges scored the contest 29-28 in favor of the seventh-ranked Brazilian, who extended her winning streak to four matches. The judo black belt overcame a difficult first round, in which the 36-year-old Russian defended nine takedown attempts to keep the fight standing.
The momentum shifted in the final two frames as Luana Santos successfully landed two takedowns in the second round and three in the third. These maneuvers resulted in 7.5 minutes of total control time on the canvas, occupying more than half of each of the closing rounds. While the source notes she inflicted no damage during these periods, the grappling control proved decisive for the scoring officials.
Following the win, Luana Santos expressed interest in facing higher-ranked opponents. The women's bantamweight division is currently led by Kayla Harrison, who won the title in June 2025. Harrison is scheduled to defend her championship against Amanda Nunes at UFC 334 in two weeks. On the same undercard in Las Vegas, Tom Nolan defeated Renato Moicano via third-round TKO in a lightweight bout.
