Manchester City secured a 3-0 win at Anfield behind goals from Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku, and Rayan Cherki.
Manchester City defeated 10-man Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield to maintain a perfect record of six wins from six matches at the top of the Premier League. Following a scoreless first half, Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 65th minute by converting a rebound after a shot from substitute Jérémy Doku was parried. Doku doubled the lead three minutes later with a strike into the top-right corner, and Rayan Cherki finalized the scoreline by prodding the ball home from close range in the 78th minute.
Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch was dismissed in the 62nd minute after receiving a second yellow card. Before the dismissal, Gianluigi Donnarumma recorded two saves to deny long-distance efforts from Gravenberch and Lewis Koumas. Alexis Mac Allister also missed the target with a curled attempt, while Haaland sent a chance wide earlier in the half following a pass from Antoine Semenyo.
Enzo Maresca’s side entered the match after being found guilty of 114 charges regarding Premier League financial rules. The result marks Liverpool’s first home league defeat since February, when they also lost to Manchester City. The loss leaves Liverpool in ninth place in the Premier League table.
