According to ESPN, these chunks were harvested in June when the ground was stripped back to its foundation for the first time in 14 years. The renovation, completed by groundsperson Tony Sinclair, was intended to improve water drainage and player welfare through the growth of a new surface.

The club has placed these preserved sections into glass cubes for supporters to purchase. This sale follows a period of mixed history at the stadium, which hosted 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson, but recently saw the Red Devils surrender a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 against Brighton in the Carabao Cup. That result marked the first time in 42 years the club lost a home match after leading at half-time.
