Matthew Stafford Moves to Sixth All-Time in Career Passing Touchdowns

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-6 victory against the New York Giants on Monday night. During the third quarter, Stafford connected with wide receiver Davante Adams for an 11-yard score, marking his 426th career regular-season touchdown. This specific play moved Stafford past Philip Rivers for sole possession of sixth place on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown list.

Stafford now trails only Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539), Aaron Rodgers (528), and Brett Favre (508) in career scoring passes. According to ESPN Research, Stafford is the second player in league history to record at least three touchdowns in 25 or more games for multiple franchises. He achieved this feat in 42 games with the Detroit Lions and 25 games with the Rams, joining Peyton Manning as the only other player to reach that benchmark.

Davante Adams caught two of Stafford’s four touchdowns during the contest at Inglewood. Following the game, Stafford described the achievement as a "special feeling" to be mentioned alongside players he idolized as a child. The veteran quarterback has now surpassed Rivers' career total and continues to etch his name into the league's record books.
