San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. According to coach Kyle Shanahan, Evans will be a game-time decision after suffering a rib injury during the first half of last week's victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Evans returned to practice as a limited participant on Friday following DNP designations on Wednesday and Thursday.
Evans described the injury as feeling like he was "stabbed" in the chest while running a route, which led to him being carted to the locker room. While he noted a significant hit from Cardinals safety Budda Baker earlier in that contest, he attributed that impact to his head rather than his ribs. To manage the pain on Sunday, Evans plans to wear a compression shirt with built-in padding rather than a traditional flak jacket.
The receiver previously navigated a similar injury in November 2022 as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During that instance, he recorded five receptions for 54 yards in a 21-16 win against the Seattle Seahawks after being limited in practice.
San Francisco has officially ruled out three players for the upcoming game: defensive end Nick Bosa (calf), defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. (ankle), and defensive lineman Mykel Williams (knee). Additionally, linebacker Dre Greenlaw and defensive lineman Keion White are questionable with quad and hamstring injuries, respectively, after both players participated in Friday's practice on a limited basis.
