Japanese star Miyu Yamashita matched the LPGA 72-hole scoring record of 23-under 257 to secure a nine-stroke wire-to-wire win at Royal Mayfair.

Miyu Yamashita matched the LPGA Tour's 72-hole scoring record on Sunday, finishing the CPKC Women's Open at 23-under 257. The Japanese star secured a wire-to-wire, nine-stroke victory at Royal Mayfair in Edmonton, Alberta, after sinking an 8-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th hole. Her final round of 4-under 66 equaled the 257 total set by Sei Young Kim at the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic, though Kim finished that tournament at 31 under par.

Yamashita’s performance established a new tournament record for the Canadian national championship, eclipsing the previous mark of 262 set by Jin Young Ko at Magna in 2019. Entering the final round with a six-stroke cushion, Yamashita navigated a tree-lined layout impacted by record summer rain to extend her lead to nine. This win marks her fourth LPGA Tour title, each achieved in a different country: the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan, the Women's British Open in Wales, and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia.

Record-Breaking Performance at Royal Mayfair

The victory followed a week of dominant scoring where Yamashita set new 36-hole and 54-hole tournament marks. She opened the event on Thursday with a course-record 62 to take a one-stroke lead. On Friday afternoon, she carded a 64 to move five shots clear of the field, followed by a 65 on Saturday to entering the final day with a six-shot advantage. The 23-year-old, who was the previous season's rookie of the year, now possesses 13 career victories on the Japan LPGA circuit.

Fellow Japanese competitor Yuri Yoshida finished in second place at 14 under par following a closing 69. Sei Young Kim ended the tournament one additional stroke back at 13 under after posting a final-round 67. The top Canadian performer was 17-year-old Anna Huang, who shot a 65 on Sunday to finish in a tie for fourth place at 12 under par.

Amateur Success and Leaderboard Standings

Aphrodite Deng, a 16-year-old amateur and winner of the 2025 U.S. Girls' Junior, earned a share of seventh place at 11 under par after carding a 67. Two-time tournament winner Brooke Henderson finished the week at 7 under par following a final-round 70. World number one Nelly Korda posted a 69 on Sunday to reach a 5-under par total. The competition took place on a course noted as a mosquito hot spot due to recent heavy precipitation.

Solheim Cup Qualifications Finalized

The CPKC Women's Open served as the final qualifying event for three spots on the U.S. Solheim Cup team. Allisen Corpuz secured the final automatic qualifying position on Friday. On Sunday, Andrea Lee and Alison Lee earned their places on the squad based on the working rankings. These players will compete in the matches scheduled for Sept. 11-13 in the Netherlands. U.S. captain Angela Stanford is scheduled to announce her three additional captain’s picks on Monday to complete the roster.
