Following the loss, Garrett stated his knee was not 100% healthy and described his play as the "worst version" of himself. The defensive end, who set the NFL single-season sack record with the Cleveland Browns last year, recorded just three individual pressures against San Francisco. The Rams defense pressured 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy on 19% of his dropbacks, their third-lowest rate since the start of last season.

Garrett missed a significant portion of training camp due to knee swelling, according to Rams coach Sean McVay. While Garrett did not specify which knee was affected, he wore a sleeve on his left leg during practices. McVay noted that Garrett previously described himself as "feeling about 85%" healthy during camp, though the coach believed the player was at full strength heading into Friday's contest.

San Francisco left tackle Trent Williams stated he could not tell Garrett was injured, noting the defender remained difficult to block. Despite defensive tackle Aaron Donald being unavailable for the game, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the team did not alter its blocking schemes for Garrett. The Rams now turn their focus to Week 2, with Garrett stating his primary objective is recovery.
