Nashville added defenseman Jayden Struble from Montreal on Friday in exchange for a 2027 second-round draft selection originally owned by Vegas.
The Nashville Predators acquired 25-year-old defenseman Jayden Struble from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night. In exchange for the blueliner, Nashville sent a 2027 second-round draft pick—originally belonging to the Vegas Golden Knights—to Montreal. This transaction marks the second defensive addition for the Predators this week following the waiver claim of prospect William Trudeau.
Struble, a 2019 second-round draft choice, recorded seven goals and 35 points across 174 career games with the Canadiens. Despite his tenure, he had recently served as a healthy scratch for the past two seasons and was not in the lineup during the Thursday matchup between Nashville and Montreal. The Canadiens currently hold a 1-2-1 record to start the season, while the Predators sit at 2-1-1.
According to ESPN, the trade provides Montreal with draft capital and roster flexibility as they prepare for the return of Kaiden Guhle from offseason adductor surgery. The move also clears a path for prospect David Reinbacher, who is expected to transition from the AHL to the NHL. The acquired 2027 selection offers the Canadiens additional leverage heading toward the March 1 trade deadline.
