Premier League U21 stars: Gabriel nears record as Yohanna makes €25m move

Manchester United forward J.J. Gabriel could break a 70-year-old club record this season, while Brighton landed Zadok Yohanna in a €25 million deal.

Manchester United forward J.J. Gabriel, 15, is positioned to become the youngest player in the club's history if he makes his senior debut before Oct. 25. This would surpass the 70-year-old record held by David Gaskell, who debuted at 16 years and 19 days in the 1956 Charity Shield. Gabriel enters the 2026-27 season following a year where he scored 23 goals in 23 U18 Premier League matches and became the youngest recipient of the Jimmy Murphy award. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion completed a Swedish transfer record move of €25 million for 19-year-old Zadok Yohanna from AIK. Yohanna, who recently earned a Nigeria national team call-up, averaged over 10 successful dribbles per match in the Allsvenskan.

Preseason results have already showcased several emerging talents. Bournemouth defensive midfielder Malcom Dacosta, 18, scored during a 10-1 victory over Genoa. The 6-foot-3 Ecuador youth international was named the club's 2025-26 Academy Player of the Year.
