Purdy Records Historic Stats in 49ers' 35-13 Win Over Dolphins

Brock Purdy completed 20-of-22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins 35-13.

The San Francisco 49ers improved to 2-0 on Sunday with a 35-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins at Santa Clara. Quarterback Brock Purdy finished the contest with a 99.7 QBR, completing 20-of-22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns. After an early drop by Deebo Samuel, Purdy recorded 18 consecutive completions, a streak that lasted until an intentional grounding penalty on his final pass attempt. The signal-caller also contributed 30 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, San Francisco scored touchdowns on each of its first five offensive possessions for the first time in 45 seasons. This result marks the first time in franchise history the 49ers have opened a season with back-to-back wins of 20 or more points, following a 27-7 victory against the Los Angeles Rams. Purdy currently leads the NFL with a 95.9 QBR and an 80.4% completion percentage through two games.

Running back Christian McCaffrey reached a career milestone by scoring two 1-yard rushing touchdowns, bringing his career total to 100. ESPN reports McCaffrey is now the third player in league history to score at least 50 touchdowns with two different franchises, joining Marshall Faulk and Randy Moss. Reaching the 100-touchdown mark in 114 games, McCaffrey became the fourth-fastest player to hit that total, surpassing the 115 games required by Jerry Rice.
