Raoni Barcelos Hospitalized Following TKO Loss to Raul Rosas Jr.

Raoni Barcelos was transported to a trauma center after losing consciousness during a fifth-round takedown against Raul Rosas Jr. on Saturday night.

Raul Rosas Jr. (13-1) defeated Raoni Barcelos (22-6) via TKO at 1 minute, 38 seconds of the fifth round during Saturday night's UFC Fight Night main event in Las Vegas. Rosas Jr., who trailed on all three scorecards entering the final frame, secured the victory after slamming Barcelos to the mat during a clinch against the fence. Referee Herb Dean halted the bantamweight bout immediately when Barcelos appeared to lose consciousness after his head struck either the canvas or the cage.

Barcelos remained on the mat following the stoppage and was eventually carried from the Octagon on a stretcher. The UFC later released a statement confirming the 39-year-old fighter was transported to a Level 1 trauma center for a CT scan. According to the promotion, Barcelos is currently stable, alert, and responsive with full movement. His coach, Davi Ramos, also provided an update on social media stating that the fighter is doing well.

The matchup featured a 17-year age gap between the 22-year-old Rosas Jr. and Barcelos, marking the widest age difference for a main event in the history of the promotion. The win marks the sixth consecutive victory for Rosas Jr., who became the youngest fighter to sign with the UFC at age 17 in 2022.
