The Houston Rockets moved to No. 1 in the NBA Power Rankings with a 7-1 record and a league-best 121.2 offensive rating.

The Houston Rockets (7-1) have claimed the top spot in the latest NBA Power Rankings, fueled by a league-leading 121.2 offensive rating following the return of point guard Fred VanVleet. The Detroit Pistons (6-1) follow at No. 2, leading the NBA in defensive rating and points allowed per game. Detroit has also improved to No. 6 in 3-point percentage at 38.1%, with Cade Cunningham shooting a career-high 37% from deep.

In Los Angeles, Luka Doncic is averaging a league-high 38.3 points per game on 49.7/42.7/88.7 shooting splits, leading the Lakers to a 6-2 start. This includes consecutive performances of 42 and 45 points. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers (7-1) sit at No. 3 as Tyrese Maxey leads the NBA in fourth-quarter scoring with 11.0 points per game. The 76ers roster currently features LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Jaylen Brown.

Injury issues are impacting several top-tier teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder (5-2) dropped to No. 10 after losing four All-Defensive players—Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, Chet Holmgren, and Alex Caruso—to injuries. The Minnesota Timberwolves (5-3) are playing without Anthony Edwards, who is sidelined for an expected two months following a knee procedure. In Portland, the Trail Blazers (5-1) have maintained momentum despite Ja Morant suffering a strained hamstring after four games.

Notable individual starts include Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who scored 37 points in a recent win over the Clippers. Dallas Mavericks' 19-year-old Cooper Flagg is averaging 25.2 points per game, joining a group of only four other players to reach that mark at age 20 or younger. Conversely, the Miami Heat (2-5) have struggled defensively, allowing 138 points in a Monday loss to the Lakers.
