Spain Extends Luis de la Fuente's Contract to 2032 Following World Cup Triumph

Luis de la Fuente has signed a four-year extension with the RFEF to remain Spain's head coach through the 2032 European Championships.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) board of directors ratified a contract extension for coach Luis de la Fuente on Monday, keeping him in charge of the national team until 2032. The 65-year-old’s previous agreement was set to conclude in 2028 following the European Championships in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This new deal ensures De la Fuente will lead La Roja during their 2030 World Cup defense, co-hosted by Spain, Morocco, and Portugal, as well as the 2032 European Championships held in Italy and Türkiye.

De la Fuente’s extension follows a summer where he guided Spain to a World Cup title, culminating in a final victory over Argentina in New Jersey this past July. Since replacing Luis Enrique in late 2022, the manager has secured the 2023 UEFA Nations League title and the 2024 European Championship. His tenure with the federation also includes winning the U19 and U21 European Championships and a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

Spain returns to competition this weekend at Wembley Stadium against England to begin a four-game UEFA Nations League window. Following the match in London, the squad will host Croatia and Czechia before finishing the international break with an away fixture against Croatia.
