The deal, announced Thursday by General Manager Alex Steen, carries an average annual value of $6.75 million against the NHL salary cap. This commitment secures the 25-year-old through the 2031-32 season, representing a significant financial increase over the $2.1 million he earned annually during the previous two campaigns.

Trade Details and Roster Movement

The Connor McMichael contract follows a major trade last month between St. Louis and the Washington Capitals. To acquire the forward, the Blues sent Jordan Kyrou to Washington in exchange for McMichael, a first-round draft selection, and prospect Milton Gastrin. This transaction marks one of the first major moves under Alex Steen, who officially succeeded Doug Armstrong as General Manager on July 1.

McMichael arrives in St. Louis following a season where he established a career high with 32 assists. During his final 78-game stint with the Capitals, he also recorded 14 goals.
