This surpassed the previous high of 54,096 set during a 1970 FA Cup match against Liverpool at Anfield.

Phil Parkinson’s side has now won only one of their first seven Championship matches, leaving them near the relegation zone following three consecutive promotions. Conversely, West Ham moved to the top of the table with the victory, which represented their largest winning margin since September 2018.
