William Contreras became the eighth catcher to win World Series MVP honors after batting .381 during Milwaukee's five-game series win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

William Contreras earned World Series MVP honors on Wednesday night after the Milwaukee Brewers secured their first championship with a 4-1 victory in Game 5. The 28-year-old catcher finished the five-game series with a .381 batting average and contributed a run-scoring double during the clinching win in St. Petersburg. Contreras is the eighth catcher in MLB history to win the award, joining a list that includes Johnny Bench and Salvador Perez.

During the first World Series to utilize the automated ball-strike system, Contreras successfully won 10 of 13 challenges. Defensively, he threw out four attempted base stealers while guiding a pitching staff led by Jacob Misiorowski, who went 2-0 with one run allowed over 10⅔ innings. Reliever Aaron Ashby added 5⅔ scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and a save during the series.

Contreras concluded a postseason run that included a .444 average with two solo home runs in the Division Series against San Diego and a .357 average in the National League Championship Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. By winning the title, Contreras and teammates Jackson Chourio and Antonio Senzatela became the first Venezuelan players to win the World Baseball Classic and the World Series in the same calendar year.

Other notable Brewers performances included rookie Cooper Pratt, who tied a record with seven RBIs and set a Series rookie mark with six consecutive hits. Chourio recorded 11 hits in 24 at-bats, the highest total for a player in a five-game World Series. During the regular season, Contreras hit .270 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs as Milwaukee secured its fourth consecutive NL Central title.
