Yamal Leads Spain to 4-1 Nations League Victory Over Croatia

Lamine Yamal scored in the 2nd and 63rd minutes to help Spain secure a 4-1 win against Croatia in Seville.

Spain defeated Croatia 4-1 in a UEFA Nations League match on Tuesday at the Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville, extending the defending champions' unbeaten run to 40 games. Winger Lamine Yamal opened the scoring just 70 seconds into the match, marking the fastest goal of his career. Marc Pubill doubled the lead in the 30th minute after converting a cross from Yamal to make the score 2-1.

Yamal secured his second goal of the evening in the 63rd minute by beating Barcelona teammate Dominik Livakovic with a near-post finish. Substitute Nico Williams added a fourth goal late in the contest to finalize the scoreline. Following this performance, Yamal has now recorded 11 goals and seven assists across his last eight appearances for both club and country.

Coach Luis de la Fuente highlighted Yamal's collective play and humility following the victory. The 2026 Ballon d'Or contender, who finished as runner-up for the award in 2025, recently helped Spain win the World Cup and Barcelona secure the LaLiga title. Spain's Nations League schedule continues with a match against Czechia on Oct. 3, followed by a second meeting with Croatia on Oct. 6.
