Alex Eala enters the Toray Pan Pacific Open following a Round of 16 appearance in Ningbo, where she defeated world No. 34 Diane Parry 6-3, 6-1.

Alex Eala enters the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, running from October 26 to November 1, following a resurgence at the Ningbo Open. During that WTA 500 event, the eighth-seeded Filipina snapped a three-match losing streak by defeating world No. 34 Diane Parry 6-3, 6-1. Although Eala subsequently lost 7-5, 6-4 to world No. 13 Diana Shnaider in the Round of 16, the Russian noted Eala's aggressive style, stating she consistently steps in to rip the ball from the baseline.

Ranked 20th in the world, Eala opens her Tokyo campaign against 17-year-old British wildcard Mika Stojsavljevic, the former US Open junior champion currently ranked 308th. A victory in the opening round would advance Eala to face either Australian Talia Gibson or a qualifier. Eala holds a 2-0 head-to-head advantage over Gibson from previous ITF meetings.

The tournament draw places third seed Shnaider in Eala's projected quarterfinal path. In their recent Ningbo encounter, Shnaider converted six break points to secure the win. The Tokyo field also features top seed Elena Rybakina, alongside major contenders Belinda Bencic and Elise Mertens. Eala aims to improve upon recent early exits at the Singapore Tennis Open and Wuhan Open by maintaining the baseline pace displayed during her Ningbo run.
