Tatiana Prozorova Overcomes Alex Eala in Three-Set Singapore Tennis Open Opener

Alex Eala fell to Tatiana Prozorova 4-6, 7-5, 3-6 in the round of 16 at the Singapore Tennis Open after a match lasting over three hours.

Tatiana Prozorova defeated Alex Eala 4-6, 7-5, 3-6 in the round of 16 at the 2026 Singapore Tennis Open on Thursday evening. During the match at OCBC Arena, which lasted more than three hours, the 22-year-old Russian overcame a first-set deficit to eliminate the Filipina star. Eala, currently ranked world No. 180, was returning to competitive play after an 18-day absence.

In the opening set, Prozorova secured an early 3-1 lead before Eala converted her fifth break point in the fifth game to spark a four-game scoring run. Although Eala required seven set points to close out the frame while serving at 5-4, she eventually took the lead 6-4. The second set featured five breaks of serve between the two players. Prozorova leveled the match by breaking Eala in the 12th game to take the set 7-5.

The deciding set saw Prozorova win four of the final five games. After Eala held serve to lead 3-2, the Russian responded with a hold and two consecutive breaks to secure the 6-3 victory. Eala now heads to Aichi-Nagoya for the 20th Asian Games to compete for the Philippines.
