Alexander Zverev reached the Shanghai Masters semifinals by defeating Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-4 while saving all five break points faced.

Top-ranked Alexander Zverev defeated Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters. According to the Associated Press, Zverev landed 80% of his first serves and successfully defended all five break points he encountered during the match. The victory follows Zverev securing the year-end No. 1 ranking earlier in the week.

Zverev will next face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, against whom he holds a 6-1 career head-to-head record. Davidovich Fokina progressed to the semifinals after Arthur Gea retired from their match while trailing 4-1 in the opening set. Gea, who rose from 244th to 56th in the world rankings during 2026, received on-court treatment before withdrawing.

The tournament schedule continues Friday with two quarterfinal matchups. Rafael Jódar is set to play Casper Ruud, while fifth-seeded Daniil Medvedev will face American Tommy Paul.
