Top-seeded Alexander Zverev defeated No. 21 Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (3) on Monday night at the US Open. According to ESPN, Zverev has won his last two matches in straight sets following two five-set marathons earlier in the tournament. He will next face Botic Van De Zandschulp, who advanced after a 5-hour, 13-minute victory over Arthur Gea. That match, which ended 3-6, 6-7 (0), 7-6 (7), 7-6 (3), 6-4, stands as the fourth-longest in the history of the tournament.

American Learner Tien was eliminated by Karen Khachanov in a 3-hour, 50-minute contest. Khachanov won 7-5, 4-6, 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-4, preventing the host country from having four men in the quarterfinals for the first time since 1995. Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, and Alex Michelsen previously advanced on Sunday, alongside Carlos Alcaraz.

Khachanov's next opponent is No. 28 seed Alexander Blockx. Blockx defeated No. 24 Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to become the first Belgian man to reach the US Open quarterfinals. In the other half of the bracket, Arthur Gea had reached match point in a third-set tiebreaker before falling to Van De Zandschulp; Gea had entered the draw as a lucky loser after Casper Ruud withdrew due to a back injury.
