Kai Havertz scored in the 17th minute to secure Arsenal's first Premier League win at Anfield since 2012.

Arsenal moved three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table following a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute, tapping in at the far post after receiving a cross from Declan Rice. The result marked the Gunners' first win at the stadium in over 14 years, dating back to September 2012.

Liverpool dominated possession for long periods and recorded 28 touches in the opposition box during the first half, the highest number against Arsenal in a single half since the 2008-09 season. Despite this pressure, Andoni Iraola’s side failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match. Alexis Mac Allister missed a chance to equalize late in the first half when he headed a Milos Kerkez cross over the bar. The hosts also had a penalty appeal dismissed after Jurriën Timber pulled Alexander Isak's shirt inside the area.

Arsenal nearly doubled their advantage when Alisson tipped a low drive from Christos Tzolis around the post. The Liverpool goalkeeper’s stray pass into midfield had previously initiated the sequence leading to Havertz's opener. With this goal, Havertz became the all-time leading German goalscorer in Premier League history with 46 goals, moving past Ilkay Gündogan.

Mikel Arteta utilized a tactical substitution in the 62nd minute, replacing Bruno Guimarães with Myles Lewis-Skelly to maintain the clean sheet. The defeat ended Liverpool's five-game winning streak across all competitions and left them nine points behind the league leaders.
