Caleb Williams will miss his first career start on Monday night due to a right hamstring injury, while backup Tyson Bagent remains in concussion protocol.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 2024 first-overall pick sustained a right hamstring injury during the final stages of Chicago's 9-3 Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Williams, who is now considered week-to-week, did not participate in any practices leading up to the matchup. This marks the first missed start of his professional career.
Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent returned to the practice field on Saturday as a full participant but remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Bagent is officially listed as questionable on the team's injury report after progressing to meetings on Friday. If Bagent is unavailable, third-string quarterback Case Keenum is expected to start. Keenum has practiced for three consecutive days and has not started a regular-season game since December 2024. Coach Ben Johnson stated the team is still finalizing the depth chart and starting designation for the contest.
In other roster news, kicker Cairo Santos is expected to play after practicing in full on Saturday. Santos was sidelined during Thursday and Friday sessions with a right hip injury but carries no official injury designation for Monday. Left tackle Ozzy Trapilo was also a full participant in every practice this week following his activation from the PUP list in mid-August, though the team confirmed he will not play against Philadelphia.
