Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand revealed he anticipates returning to game action in approximately six weeks after suffering a left knee injury in early October.
Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand announced Thursday that he expects to return to the lineup within the next six weeks, or potentially sooner, following a left knee injury. The 38-year-old sustained the injury during an early October game against the Los Angeles Kings when he collided with a goal post late in the second period after taking a high stick. Marchand was unable to place weight on his left leg and required assistance from teammates to leave the ice.
Medical evaluations confirmed that the injury was less severe than initially feared, allowing the veteran forward to begin on-ice rehabilitation within a few weeks of the incident. Marchand, who is in his third season with Florida after 16 years with the Boston Bruins, remains under contract for four additional seasons. He helped the franchise secure its second consecutive Stanley Cup in 2025 following a trade in March of that year.
Captain Aleksander Barkov is also nearing a return to the ice after suffering an injury in the second game of the current season. Barkov, who missed the entirety of the previous season due to a knee injury, has been participating in recovery workouts alongside Marchand. Both players appeared Thursday at Fort Lauderdale for the unveiling of a team-themed Airbus A320, which was scheduled for its inaugural flight to Boston.
