Forward Brad Marchand is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks following a collision during Florida's 2-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings.
Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice announced Friday that forward Brad Marchand is expected to miss approximately six weeks with a left leg injury. The veteran did not appear in the team's first two contests and was injured during a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. The incident occurred with 52.6 seconds remaining in the game when Marchand took a stick to the face from defenseman Brandt Clarke, causing him to collide with the right post and bend his left leg backward.
Marchand was unable to put weight on his leg and required assistance from teammates Brady Tkachuk and Niko Mikkola to reach the bench before heading to the dressing room. This recovery timeline aligns with captain Aleksander Barkov, who is projected to miss six to eight weeks with a left leg injury of his own. Maurice confirmed earlier this week that Barkov will not require surgery for his ailment.
Barkov characterized his diagnosis as "really good news" on Thursday and planned to meet with the team as early as Friday to establish a return-to-play schedule and a target date for resuming skating. These injuries follow a season in which Florida missed the playoffs after winning consecutive Stanley Cup titles in 2024 and 2025.
